At Happy Days Nursery we view every child as an individual and believe they have their own pattern of development and learning.
We are committed to preserving children’s right to be playful, having fun and to develop at their own pace. Carefully chosen resources and activities are offered to children to encourage engagement in exploring the richness and diversity of different countries, festivals, foods, music, seasons, as well as their own interests and the interests of others.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and also Learning & Development & Care for children from Birth to five.
Communication & language development
This is the heart of young children’s learning, this involves giving children the opportunities to experience a rich language environment ; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
Personal, social and emotional development
This is nurtured through activities, play and nursery routine helping children to develop a positive image of themselves and others, to form positive relationships and develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings enabling them to understand appropriate behavior in groups and have confidence in their own abilities
Mathematics
This is consolidated & extended through games & play which gives children opportunities to practice their mathematical skills & knowledge and describe shapes, space and measure.
Expressive arts and design
This is incorporated throughout the day by offering a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role play and design and technology. Children are supported to develop confidence, encouraged to independently make choices, & respond to what they see, hear, smell, touch & feel by sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
Physical development
This is promoted through regular indoor & outdoor activities and apparatus as well as offering a range of stimuli for movement. This involves providing the opportunity for children to be active & interactive and to develop their co-ordination, control & movement. Children are also helped to understand the importance of physical activity and to make healthy choices in relation to food.
